Patrick Newton is Programme and Marketing Coordinator at the Tyneside Cinema. Over the last four years on the programme team, he’s been helping to decide which films get shown at the cinema, and when. He also works with the marketing team, creating marketing strategies and content for each programme of films selected.
Patrick’s role also involves week-by-week film scheduling, copy writing for the Tyneside Cinema website and occasionally hosting filmmaker Q&As, while keeping up-to-date with news from the world of film to connect each programme to trending conversations and related topics on social media.
Patrick’s work has given him a real in-depth knowledge of the film exhibition sector, and the chance to attend film conferences and festivals to develop his knowledge and awareness of trends.
This helps Patrick to curate themed film seasons based around new film releases, directors or special events and anniversaries. His role involves lots of cross-departmental work, often with input from The Tyneside Cinema’s specialist events and hospitality teams.
